My husband Michael and I have lived in Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau for three years now and ever since we learned my Great Grandparents ~ Hans and Molly Nelson ~ had 3000 acres in Morgan County, we have tried to locate the land. A few months ago my cousin Suzie came for the weekend and we decided once again we would search for the land. While driving down Meister Hills Road, a country road we had been on many times before, my husband spotted a man working in his garage. I encouraged Michael to stop so I could inquire about the family land. Well, we all got out of the car and when I asked the stranger if he might have any idea where the land might be...lo and behold he pointed directly across the street and referred to it as "The Nelson Field." What an absolute delight! Finally we had found some of the acreage our forefather had worked so hard to clear and develop into farmland.
