Waterlogue - The Watercolor App

Some of you may already be familiar with the Waterlogue app.  Sometimes we want an image to be somewhat diluted.  This application is perfect!

Happy photo watercoloring ~

Arm The Teachers

The powers that be of Tennessee decided yesterday to arm the teachers.  Many of you may recall the mass shooting last year at The Covenant School here in Nashville.  The legislators and the citizens have been in disagreement ever since on how to address this situation.  It was voted on yesterday and the legislators won.  The teachers will carry firearms.  Now the bill goes to the governor's office for his signature.

I am curious to know how my followers feel about this.

Delicious and Healthy Chicken Patties

I follow a blog named "Miss Mustard Seed" by Marian.  She is such a talented artist and lover of all things home.  One of the things she particularly loves are these Chicken Patties and comments that she prepares them once a week.  I have fixed them myself and can attest to the yumminess.  Also, they freeze well and can be reheated straight from the freezer by wrapping them in a sheet of Cut-Rite waxed paper and microwaved for 1 minute.  Oh, and the recipe can easily be halved!  I think I used 2 eggs.

Enjoy ~

Frannie

Ingredients

3 lbs fresh ground chicken (I use 92% lean)

1 cup original bread crumbs

3 eggs

3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning

1 Tbsp Dijon Mustard

splash of Worcestershire

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp salt

ground black pepper

olive oil

Steps

preheat oven to 400

Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl, folding in gently by hand to prevent meat from getting tough

drizzle olive oil in a non-stick skillet and preheat the pan on medium-high heat

Add four chicken patties to the pre-heated pan and allow them to brown on one side, about 5-7 minutes. (You can either shape the patties by hand or drop them into the pan and flatten with a large spoon.) Flip patties and brown on the second side.

Once both sides of the patties are browned, transfer them to a cookie sheet and put them in the oven until they reach an internal temp of 165 or higher. (I check it with an instant-read thermometer.

Serve immediately or store in the fridge and reheat as leftovers. The patties can also be frozen and reheated.

Baby Bluebird and Fifth Third

This evening I saved the life of a baby bluebird.  I was watering my outdoor ferns and happened to glance down into one of my baskets which normaly houses soil and plants.  Lo and behold, sitting in about 3” of standing water was this lifeless creature with eyes wide open.  I was a foot away from it and yet no movement.  Slowly I tilted the basket and allowed the water to flow completely out and walked away.  An hour or so later I spotted a bluebird perched on my wicker bench.  I was happy…

Tomorrow my neighborhood is having their annual garage sale.  As some of you may know, Venmo is the latest way to pay for sale items.  Well, just in case I had a cash buyer, I decided to jump in my car and head to Fifth Third Bank to get some cash for change.  Unbelievably both tellers would not give me $1 bills for a $20!  “Due to the fact I was not a Fifth Third customer, it was not their policy and unfortunately couldn’t help me.”

Baby Bluebird was pleased I’m sure that I didn’t have the same attitude.

How to Practice Positive Mindset / and Survive a Bad Day When It Doesn’t...

I follow Nanny on YouTube and thoroughly enjoy her videos.  She is 86 and a retired teacher.  This particular video encourages us to be positive even when your day isn’t going the way you had hoped.  Allow yourself a day of rest from your own scrutiny!

Take care of yourself,

Plarning Away...

A group of women in my local senior center gather together twice a month and make mat and pillow sets for the homeless people in Nashville.  We also provide sets for the local police to keep at their station in case there is a need.

Plarn is plastic yarn made from plastic grocery bags folded in half lengthwise and cut into strips.  The strips are interlocked and then rolled into skeins of plarn.  Those volunteers who know the art of crocheting then crochet the plarn into 3' x 6" mats with matching pillows.  The pillows are stuffed using the unused handles and hems from the plastic bags.  As you can imagine, many bags are required... approximately 1000 for each set!

Since the homeless person's story is unknown, the volunteers feel it is a way to be nonjudgmental and help them through their struggles.  Love they neighbor.  A wooden heart with the word "love" is attached to each mat/pillow set.

If any of you would like directions and more information regarding this project, please go to YouTube or the internet and type in https://youtu.be/yr_WHW_tGSE

Hard-Boiled Eggs and Gums

These are two products which will add joy to your dental hygiene routine and the task of making beautiful deviled eggs.  Some of you may already be familiar with them.  My Missouri cousin Suzie highly recommended both and I must admit... they are wonderful!

The curvature of the G*U*M Soft Picks allows for easy teeth cleaning and a convenient plastic case provides accessibility when on the go.

The Egg*Pod allows for a perfectly cooked egg (four of them fit in the pod) with never a green yolk or blemished white!

This information may seem a bit frivolous to some of you, but honestly both products are great.

Solar Eclipse 2024

A few days ago I presented a photo of the different stages of darkness during the Solar Eclipse of 2017.  Today I am showing the small differences with this eclipse.  It is not as dramatic as it was in 2017.  One thing can be said about Monday's occurrence... it was phenomenal!  Incidentally, the top picture was at the end of the eclipse and the bottom picture was at the beginning.  No filters or adjustments to my iPhone camera were made.

After my Purchase…

Yesterday I stopped at the store to purchase a greeting card.  After I was rung up by the clerk and waiting for my change she inquired, “Do you want your receipt and then, do you want your change?”  I was taken aback and politely said yes.

Albeit it was only 15 cents, her question was puzzling to me.  Do some people not have any value of hard-earned money even if it is only a nickel and a dime?

What are your thoughts?  Please share.

Blessings,

Frannie

A Walk in the Neighborhood

As I was walking four years ago, I discovered a cemetery right in the middle of my new neighborhood!  Yes, amongst the many newly-built homes were about a dozen very old headstones of various sizes.  Some adults and some children.  Initially it seemed out of place but now I enjoy knowing years ago this area was hallowed grounds.  Actually it still is...

Solar Eclipse in Tennessee August 21, 2017

The above picture was captured by placing my iPhone on the picnic table, clicking every few minutes and combining the photos.  It really is a simple yet unique image and perhaps a member of your family would like to experiment on Monday, the 8th, doing the very same thing.

Happy eclipse viewing,
Frannie

Thrilled to Report...

I am happy to report that Jace's PET scan, which he had taken recently, shows that his cancer tumors have reduced in size by 35%!  How happy I am for Jace!

My son Tommy had esophageal cancer which metastasized unfortunately.  I remember any bit of positive news was so good for his soul.  I do highly recommend my followers to share Jace's Instagram account with anyone they might know who is experiencing cancer.  His account name is jacebeatscancer.

Excellent Book by Richard Paul Evans

Today I finished a wonderful book by Richard Paul Evans.  It was called "Sharing Too Much" and was a collection of personal essays regarding his life's experiences.  You may know him from his small Christmas books.  This is a non-fiction publication which is both heartwarming and hilarious.  Richard writes in such a simplistic manner and draws his reader immediately into his world.

Do yourself a favor and check it out from your local library or order it from Amazon.

Sharing peace, love, hope and joy ~
